Guide to changing the taxation form in CEIDG

New entrepreneurs regularly appear in Poland and most of them choose sole proprietorships (JDG) to legally conduct business activities. For example, only in February 2025, more than 24 thousand new sole proprietorships were opened, according to official statistics. Each individual entrepreneur is obliged to pay taxes to the state treasury.

However, many businessmen don't understand how the tax service and CEIDG are connected. You may think that they are two completely different institutions. That's true, however, you need to notify Centralna Ewidencja i Informacja o Działalności Gospodarczej to make any tax-related changes. How to change the tax form online and why is it necessary? You will learn the answers to all the questions in this article.

What forms of taxation are there for JDG?

Let's start by looking at what taxation options are available for self-employed people in Poland. IMPORTANT: we are talking specifically about the approach tax (PIT), not taking into account VAT and other levies. There are three main options for income tax in Poland:

  • Tax scale. If your annual income is less than 120 thousand PLN, you are subject to a 12% rate. If your annual income is more than 120 thousand PLN, you pay a fixed amount of 10800 PLN and a 32% rate is applied to all other income.

  • Linear tax. This is a flat tax rate system that is 19%, regardless of your profit.

  • Lump sum tax. In this case, the amount of the tax rate depends directly on your field of activity. The rate varies from 2 to 17%.

As you already know, individual entrepreneurs have the right to independently choose one of the above-described forms of taxation. It all depends on your income from business activities. Such schemes are applied not only in Poland, but also all over the world.

Why change the form of taxation?

As practice shows, most beginners simply lack experience and knowledge. They choose a form of taxation that simply turns out to be unfavorable for them. Another common variant is the growth of your profit. Imagine that initially you earned 100 thousand PLN per year and paid 12% tax. Over time, the performance of your sole proprietorship has improved and now your annual income exceeds 200 thousand PLN and you are subject to a 32% tax rate. In order to reduce costs, entrepreneurs often need to change the form of taxation.

Making changes online

And so, we come to the main part of today's article – how to change the form of taxation for JDG. Obviously, you can go to your local tax office in person and find out all the information.
