Top 6 Chinese electric cars to be imported into the EU in 2025

Almost all of us have thought about buying a Chinese electric car. Therefore, if you have come to this page, most likely you are seriously considering the idea of buying a BEV car from China and bringing it to Europe. However, you may have a lot of questions. Which make and model of Chinese electric car to choose in 2025? How to bring a new car to Europe?

Almost every month new models are released that make you think about them. On the other hand, such a large variety of Chinese manufacturers makes it much more difficult to choose, especially for beginners. That's why we decided to create this selection of the six best electric cars from China in 2025. Here we go!

Why does China dominate electric car production?

According to official statistics, China produced more than 8 million electric vehicles including BEVs, PHEVs and FCEVs in 2023. None of the other countries in the world can boast such figures. Therefore, many people have a question - what is the secret behind the PRC's dominance in electric vehicle production and sales?

The Chinese government has been subsidizing both the development of technology and the purchase of electric cars over the past few years, which has stimulated domestic demand and allowed companies to ramp up production. The largest Chinese automakers, such as BYD and Geely, own not only production facilities but also supply chains, including battery and electronics factories. This reduces costs and speeds new models to market. In addition, China relies on technological innovation. The country is a leader in battery development.

1. BYD Song Plus

How to import a Chinese car to the EU and how much does it cost?

[object Object]

Obviously, such a large variety of high-tech cars attracts the attention of people from all over the world, especially Europeans. Why so? Electric cars from China are much cheaper than their local counterparts - BMW, Mercedes, Audi and others. Do you have an idea to bring a new car from China for personal use or for resale? This is a great idea, but today there are some nuances that make it difficult to do so.

  • Size of duties. Until 2023, you could import an electric car from China without additional duties, which was very favorable for residents of Poland and other EU countries. However, today an anti-dumping law is in force, charging duties of up to 35.3%. Read more about the current duties on Chinese cars in Europe here.

  • Legal complications. To pass customs and register a Chinese car in Europe, you may need a large list of documents. Among them may be invoice, СoC certificate and technical inspection.

What about the cost of the whole process? For example, buying a Geely electric car costing 30 thousand dollars, you will have to give 17 thousand dollars for all taxes and duties. However, the amount of duties differs significantly depending on the brand of the car. Moreover, recently rumors began to circulate that the European Union authorities will soon cancel additional duties.
